As a part of Restorative Justice, Victims of Violent Crime Ministry provides “Help, Hope and Healing” to the victims of violent crime and their families. We offer referrals, spiritual care, pastoral accompaniment, education on Victim’s Rights, and explanation of Funding Resources. We are available to visit parishes, assist with the formation of victims’ support groups, and provide educational programs.

“There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
-Nelson Mandela
The Office of Restorative Justice, Archdiocese of Los Angeles, provides pastoral care for offenders, victims, and families of both. We employ education and outreach to effect changes in public policy and to transform the criminal justice system. We are a faith-filled community of hope who witness and offer by our ministry compassion, love and healing justice to those affected by the criminal justice system: victims, the incarcerated, and families of victims and offenders.
The Office of Restorative Justice is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. We provide personal and spiritual support to incarcerated men and women, their families, and to victims of violent crime.
Rita Chairez comes to us after having been a community organizer for Communidad en Movimiento, a program of Proyecto Pastoral, which is very active at Dolores Mission Parish. In this capacity, Rita often partneredwith the local city council, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Mayor’s Office. Rita, who is a victim herself, has walked with the victims of crime, often offering support to mothers whose young children have been caught in the crossfire of gang rivalries. Rita is looking forward to continuing her service on behalf of the victims of crime and their families-not just in the local community, but Archdiocesan-wide.
